The Berlin Defense — one of the most solid openings in chess. Black has won a pawn but enters a difficult endgame. We've won back the e5 pawn and have a slight edge. The position is equal but our pieces are more active — we play for the long game.
Open Variation
The Open Ruy López — Black took the e4 pawn and we struck back with d4. Black is expanding on the queenside but our pieces are very active. This is a sharp, double-edged game where both sides have real chances.
